I haven't been online in a few days, so apologies if this has been posted already and I missed it.

Dr. Jack Newman's breastfeeding clinic has lost its funding. If you'd like to help, please click below.

x-posted around a bit.

this is simply ridiculous: http://thelactivist.blogspot.com/2007/02/city-kids-daycare-chain-charges-mom.html

this daycare center is charging a woman $50 more a week because her child is breastfed. and they consider breastmilk a 'biohazardous' material. i'm sorry, i can't really form a coherent paragraph right now because i'm so pissed off, but please email the daycare place (email is listed in the article) and post this everywhere you can.

Evans 4.5 months old and he's become much more effective at eating. It sort of freaks me out sometimes and I think he must be starving because he used to eat for an hour sometimes 3 hours at a time. He'd take his sweet time, pass out a few times, wake up eat more, pass out eat. And now he's all done in 5-10 minutes and gets mad when I try to offer him more.

What are all the readiness-for-solids signs you can think of? What do you plan on introducing first? Any baby-friendly, non-meat, iron-rich foods you can think of that would be safe to introduce in the first year?

Have you heard of child-led introduction to solids... or however you word that? Where you let your baby figure out how to feed himself, and how much to feed himself, so that the decision to start solids is his? How do you feel about that? I got mocked by my family when I brought it up.

It isn't time for solids for my baby yet, but I do want to have a list of readiness signs with which to fend off my well-meaning parents and in-laws.

One of the samples you can request is the "woman's kit" which has breastfeeding tea, moon cycle tea and pregnancy tea in it...good way to see if you like the taste before buying a box! I personally like the taste of the mother's milk tea, I don't even need sugar in it anymore :)

Introduction, and photos - with boobCollapse )

And I have a very important question:
How long has your baby gone without pooping? Mine just set her record at four days, and let me tell you, what she lacks in frequency, she makes up for in odour! WHOA!
